Ian Boddy & Markus Reuter, Jodrell Bank Concert (eMusic)
Image
A past Boddy/Reuter I'd missed even knowing about? How was that possible? I have no excuse. This is a fine addition to the range, if for a slightly different mood, being more minimalist and abstract than most.

Bruford & Moraz Live in Maryland (eMusic)
I like. I'm not sure it beats out MfP&D as the best single encapsulation of what they did, but it's great to hear them improvise and expand on that somewhat.

24 Hrs Records, Less Time More Music (freebie EP)
24HR Records is a web series that hand picks a team of musicians who have never worked together, locks them in a studio, and asks them to write and record three complete songs in twenty-four hours. This 6-song sampler includes the best tracks picked from our 10 episodes.

I was intrigued by seeing the name Humming House among the contributors, and the one track obviously including their singer sounds nothing like what they've done otherwise. Just what such a series should do, then.

The Brain, The Drop / Nerve Net (expanded)
Jah Wobble, Fly
Gavin H, Cheating the Polygraph
Porky Tree, Nil Recurring / Recordings / Fear of a Blank Planet / Transmission IV
Nucultures, Zebras, Butterflies and Moonbeams
v/a: Big Blue Ball
Eno - Hyde, Someday World
Daniel Lanois, Acadie
Keith Jarrett, Belonging
Hey Rosetta!, Second Sight
Warren Zevon, Sentimental Hygiene / Mr. Bad Example / Stand in the Fire
Bert Lams & Tom Griesgraber Live at the Museum of Making Music
There's just three things in my life that I regret
There's everything I've done, everything I'm doing
And what I haven't done yet

Portico Quartet s/t (eMusic)
On the plus side, it sounds so different from the previous ones that they're almost unrecognizable as the same group. On the downside... it sounds so different from the previous ones that they're almost unrecognizable as the same group. I'm not really on board with this reinvention so far; they've gone from a contemporary jazz voice with an interesting instrumental slant to a kind of abstract trip-hop experimentalism. Interesting, but not so much my thing.

Uncle Bobby @ St. Louis '06
Hey, whatever happened to Soundscape Sunday?

Bruford, Gradually Going Tornado
Huh, what? Jeff Berlin? Oh, he sounds just fine. I'm too busy deciding how to feel about the singing that I can't find any fault with the bass work at all.

Other stuff for a busy week of work and a busy long weekend of not-work...

ToPaRaMa
P-Tree, Deadwing etc.
Tim Motzer Live from Stars End
David Sylvian, Alchemy
Daniel Lanois, Belladonna
Melody Gardot, My One and Only Thrill
Michael Brook Live at the Aquarium or Zoo or something, I forget exactly where
Steve Ball, Green Thumb
Something or other by Rob Rushin
No-Man, Dry Cleaning Ray + some live stuff
Miles, Kind of Blue
Paula Morelenbaum, Bossarenova
David & Brian, My Life in the Bush of Ghosts
P3 @ Austin (3.25)
P4 @ Seattle & Vancouver
Valkyrie, Shadows
There's just three things in my life that I regret
There's everything I've done, everything I'm doing
And what I haven't done yet

Global Illage, The Complete Portland Sessions vol. I & vol. II (eMusic)
An extended improv-groove-fest (or, well, two-thirds of it) from the Tim Motzer/1k crew. This one seems like an extension of the Jazzheads endeavor, an off-the-cuff group dialogue with Miles's On the Corner and Jon Hassell's "fourth world" philosophy as touchstones.

Richard Thompson, Still
Byrne & Eno, My Wife and a Bunch of Goats
Jon Hassell, Power Spot / Maarifa Street
Remember Shakti s/t / Saturday Night in Bombay
Ilsar-Motzer, Tales of the Blackwinged Bird
Eno - Hyde, Someday World
Hey Rosetta!, Second Sight
Boddy & Reuter, Distant Rituals
The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld
Marillion, Radiation 2013 / Marbles by the Sea
Nik Bärtsch's Ronin, Holon / Llyrìa
Bruford/Moraz, Music for Piano & Drums - Live in Maryland
Catey Shaw, The Brooklyn EP
There's just three things in my life that I regret
There's everything I've done, everything I'm doing
And what I haven't done yet
