Question about RF's guitar synthesizers

Postby IGS on Sat Mar 25, 2006 8:54 pm

I have a question about Robert Fripp's gear: Just what unit or units are actually synthesizing the sound? What device is changing the sound from a guitar to a choir for example, or the orchestral strings, etc.? Thank you.

Fripp uses two guitar synths: the Roland GR1 and Roland GR30.

Go to the Fripperies site (http://kboman.digitaldistractions.se/fr ... index.html) for even more info on Fripp's rigs throughout the years...

Thanks for the reply. I actually own a Roland GR33 guitar synth but wasn't sure if any of his other units actually do synthesis as well. Does Fripp use the Eventide Harmonizers for this purpose or are these simply high powered effects processors? How about any of the other devices in his rig? Also, I know he changed a lot of his equipment after retiring the Lunar Module and is now considering throwing out the Rolands all together.
