David Sylvian

Seen something about the guy that looks like a mushroom? Perhaps you just want to comment on his diaries? Post all that Fripperholic stuff here.

David Sylvian

At the RF Solo show in Philadelphia, PA on June 17th, RF shared that he recorded again with David Sylvian about three months ago. It sounds like he only did one tune, but he said the tune is great.

Well according http://www.davidsylvian.com Sylvian is currently working on the final mixes of a collaborative album with Steve Jansen and Burnt Friedman. The project has yet to be named, but it promises to be an exceptional group album. There will be more news on this release during the coming months. The release date is set for Autumn.

So maybe the tune Fripp added will be on this album.

Fred

ps. Welcome on board

The Sylvian sessions as mentioned in RF's diary were reported here at the time... by Fred actually.

Ha, you were there too? Coolness. That was encouraging news about the DS session, I'd practically forgotten about it.

David gave an interview with The Onion a while back, saying he and Robert didn't have an overwhelming amount in common musically although their philosophies are very similar. So I'm guessing we might see more guest appearances, but I wouldn't bet on another equal collaboration (though I'd be thrilled to be wrong about that)..
The sound of one hand clapping is the same as the sound of a tree falling when no one's around to hear it.

David Sylvian details new release "Blemish"

Frequent Robert Fripp collaborator David Sylvian has released a new album "Blemish" on his independent label Samadhi Sound. Recorded in his home sudio in New Hampshire, the disc includes contributions by experimental guitarists Derek Bailey and Christian Fennesz. Sylvian has also released an avant-garde remix of the album called "The Good Son vs. the Only Daughter."

What the?

Blemish came out two years ago this month! Has K-News completely lost the plot? Ok, the remix album is from this year, but even that is hardly "new", but look at the headline!

NOTE: this isn't meant to be a random snipe against K-News. I have nothing against them, but this latest "headline" is just too odd to NOT report...

Yeah, I think something is going bad with their program or something. I have noticed quite a few old posts springing back up that are two or more years old.

Maybe it's the ghost of Miles Davis getting back at them?

Don't make excuses for them! This isn't a ghost post returning from the grave, it is a new one because the link to the Guitar Player article is dated July 2005. I think it was just a bit of laziness on Agent Orange's part. Instead of saying something like: "New article in Guitar Player, blah, blah, blah, talks about Blemish, blah, blah, blah" he thinks the album has just been released. The person is just misinformed.

By the way, DGM are apparently reissuing "In the Court" and "In The Wake of Poseidon"...yes, Agent Orange was behind that old news too on March 8 2005. I don't know. You just can't get the staff these days!

Owen, get back to work and find me some news! :D

Wow, that's incredible. I loved the songs that Fripp did with David in the past, so I'm definately looking forward to this(if it's true.)
