I'm considering getting this one. I was at the show the day before at the Pier and purchased the download. It was a strong performance. But did anyone notice the writeup over at the shop......?

King Crimson
Live at the Pier, New York
August 2, 1982

At the end of the summer day, the boisterous young NYC area rockers lined
up to file onto Pier 84, jutting out hundreds of feet into the Hudson
River. As we faced the stage, and Hell's Kitchen and Midtown Manhattan, the
sun was setting behind our backs over the New Jersey Palisades.

It seems we all are a BIG HAPPY FAMILY! :D

Hey Sid, there are good reviews in ProjeKction. You can talk to our webmaster and/or the author of the review for copyright reasons...

Nah, I banned him. I've been banned from posting anything to the DGM Live site for a good couple of years now, so I thought I'd return the favour. Besides, there's very little for him to read here is there?

Must have been pretty cozy in Larry's tent, wonder if anything interesting happened? :bj:

I think there are good reviews from the 2003 tour and the impressions of older Crimheads about previous tours ('70s and '80s).

Well, maybe he prefers the clean versions available in his guestbook or other sites...

It's the last show with Bill Bruford in King Crimson (supposing the ProjeKcts are not that beast... :) ) : so, an historic one ! :P

Anyone can give details about KCCC 37 ?
Sound quality ? Performance ? Highlights ?

This one has just arrived over the pond along with #36, which I'm afraid gets priority being of the '74 vintage. I'll have a little listen to #37 tonight and posts some thoughts...

Brief impressions: "I like it!"

No "Matte", no "Thela", but hey, that's no bad thing as room is made for more of the "Beat" material.

Alas we don't get the extended build-up at the outset of "Waiting Man"; presumably the sound engineer was asleep when the concert started. Shame, as I do like the interaction between BB and Ade.

Sound quality is excellent; it could have been recorded 5 years ago not 25 based on the brightness of sound. Overall the the playing is tight but with plenty of variation of approach (not really improv in the KC sense).

Highlights for me:
Ade's singing; he's never sounded so good. More gusto then ever, but on Neurotica and N&J&M for example he really burns. Bum note is Indiscipline where he overeggs his pudding somewhat with his "wacky" wordplay.

This is made up for by the extended workout for BB in the intro to Indiscipline; a new piece to me and some cracking drumming from the master.

As finales go the renditions of Sartori and Larks II are explosive. This ranks as one of the better '82 shows and may yet go to #1.

Just need some more '84 gigs, now, to balance things up (TCA would wet his pants if he knew I'd typed that!)...
