A music magazine is releasing a mid-price DVD with the Rolling Stones in Hyde Park, on July 5th, 1969.

It's the same date, the same concert we all know. Does anyone know anything about this footage? Was it released in Europe or US?

You can see the cover at
Amazon.

It seems ProjeKction TV had some very brief footage of King Crimson from this concert; all it showed was Greg singing part of "21st Century Schizoid Man". Whoever originally filmed it probably has long since deleted it.

As far as I know that little brief clip was all the footage that existed. I have watched the Rolling Stones Hyde Park concert (in glorious colour) and there's no sign of KC, I am afraid. :-(

I think (though I may be mistaken) there is a reference in Sid's book to being able to see RF in the wings during the Stone's set. I haven't seen the video myself.

Also, at the time of writing the book, it was believed there was NO extant footage of KC from that concert. The snippet from Top Ten Of Prog was, IIRC, quite a revelation to all, including the members of KC.

So...

... if that "new" footage (the small snippet we know), was recently unearthed (post Sid's book), then there is a small hope that there may be more footage somewhere else waiting to be found.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting though.

Cheers,

Yeah, RF might have been in the wings...I was probably scratching my balls or picking my nose when that bit happened. Let's just say I watched the concert in real time and not in frame-by-frame mode.

Not much chance this was really posted by Robert Fripp, lol, but maybe it'll help anyone looking for him, lol:

There is no film of us playing at Hyde Park. All i you can see of anything to do with King Crimson is my face between the palm fronds for one second.
Then we were thrown offstage. Yes, we were thrown offstage. "Get off," they said. They didn't explain why, they just said, "Get off "...

PS...From Robert Cervero's list of his video collection:

07/05/69: London, Hyde Park, Free Concert. 5 min. (Silent movie footage; dubbed excerpts of Crimson's 1969 Hyde Park performance onto footage; about 1 min. of Crimson, also Rolling Stones and Joe Cocker. Ultra Rare!)**

Weird how such a bootleg enthusiast was the only outsider invited to the DGM party for the 30th anniversary of KC.
