What would be your KC14 setlist?

Postby Geno on Thu Jun 05, 2014 4:38 pm

We've heard that the new Crimso is going to be playing "reconfigured versions of existing material" on the road this summer/autumn (and there's been no news of writing new stuff). The logical speculation has seemed to center around an unfortunate fixation on the 70s catalogue, but leaving that aside - in the spirit of idle fun, what existing stuff would you want to hear this septet tackle if you could choose?

This is the show I'd hear if I could:

Intro soundscape-and-sax duet
Drum duet (Bill & Pat)
Seizure
Three of a Perfect Pair
Improv
Eyes Wide Open
The Sheltering Sky
Drum duet (Gavin & Bill)
Vrooom
Improv
One Time
The Power to Believe II
Sleepless
The Other Man
Drum duet (Pat & Gavin)
B'B'Boom*
Level Five
-------------------------
Heaven & Earth
Starless

*B'Boom, but with a newly written third part to complement the others.

I really don't want them to do any Ade vocal songs without Ade. I would LOVE to hear ANY instrumental from ANY era however. Just my thought. I loved what the band did with Level 5 on the 2008 tour... Got my ticket for the first Chicago show today, in the cheap seats :D .

Most of them wouldn't work, sure, but I think those couple could. And hell, they could always just leave out the vocals anyway.

The Devil's Triangle/Mars might be cool because of all the drums, but I wouldn't expect it. Hard to figure what to "want" with all those drums out front.

I strongly suspect that they will cover the early period possibly in chronological order. Remember the Schizoid Band? Imagine that but with Fripp at the helm and there's your setlist...ending with Starless...

Well, Tony's latest photo page from the rehearsals includes one shot of his charts, including one page that says "Trey ramble" several times. I'm choosing to hope that means TCoL - not a tune I would have picked for this lineup, but I'm loving the idea. (I mean, I suppose these could have been written back in '08, but it's a fun idea nonetheless.)

Pat's also apparently got some of his techno/sampling rig going, which is always a very good sign.
