What are they rehearsing?

The only pieces that have been mentioned on farcebook (as far as I've heard) were "Schizoid Man" and "Starless." Maybe if we're lucky, they weren't feeling the arrangement of 21CSM and decided to drop it.

(Although that new custom guitar Jakko's using also seems to be a very discouraging indicator, more's the pity.)

I'm hoping they'll perform "A Scarcity of Miracles" in its entirety just to confuse the hippies...

Now that would be fun. I think I'd still pick it over an all-69-74 setlist if I could.

not me, I did not like "A Scarcity of Miracles" at all, and why in the world would you not want to hear an all-69-74 setlist?
Everyone thinks I'm psychotic, except for my friends deep inside the earth.

Because it's not 1974?

I can't imagine why anyone would want a whole set taken from that era. That stuff had its time. Most of it was the weakest music they ever did, and this should be the last band in the world to be looking so far backward anyway.

And therein lies the dilemma! when did this band stop looking forward? I know that question is rhetorical in nature.

To be fair, reinventing material for a new lineup also allows for a lot of newness (not to mention a new lineup this different). We'll find out soon enough.

Speaking of which, the newest Youtube sounds pretty new. I hear some "B'Boom" in the middle but it's mutating nicely.

As they reinvented over the 'classic' material in 2008 (not that much) I'm sure they will do it again, being more adventurous this time.

I regret not being there to see them. Maybe if there's an European leg...

Some listeners might consider it the other way around!
It is certainly a matter of taste, for which, (proverbially) there is no accounting (technical accomplishments of later lineups notwithstanding).

I think Fripp himself has realised, after all the close listening done by him in helping put together the 5.1 editions, that in spite of anything and everything said by whomever, there was indeed something both EXTRAORDINARY and ASTONISHING "at the heart" of 69-74 Crim. Anyway, that's more or less what he wrote in his comments in the booklet for the 5.1 edition of SABB.

Perhaps he senses that in fact he may never have done anything since that truly tops that period.

You are either stupid or drunk. Or stupidly drunk...
